Om Saha Nau-Avatu, Saha Nau Bhunaktu, Saha Viryam Karavavahai…
In the Vedic vision, the Sun, Moon, planets and the two shadow-points Rāhu and Ketu are not distant, indifferent bodies — they are Devatās, living forces that sustain time, season, breath and destiny. To offer them praise (stuti) is to acknowledge our dependence on the cosmos itself: the light that ripens the grain, the tides that govern the waters, the rhythm that turns a day into a year. This page is a small, personal Navagraha Pūjan — an expression of gratitude to nature, seen and unseen, visible and invisible, as taught in the Vedas and the Purāṇas.

— Beholding the Creation
Before the individual salutations, we behold the physical solar family itself — Sūrya at the centre, and the grahas that orbit in reverence around him, each a deity in the Vedic cosmology and a world in the modern one.
Every pūjā begins by asking forgiveness of the Earth for placing our feet upon her (Bhūmi Pranam) — she who patiently bears every living being.
The nine Grahas — not merely astronomical objects, but presiding intelligences of time, karma and consciousness, saluted here in their traditional order.
Salutation to the radiant one, red as the japā flower, son of Kaśyapa, destroyer of darkness and every sin — the eye of the universe (jagac-cakṣuḥ) who is offered water (Sūrya Arghya) at every sunrise.
He who is white as curd, conch and frost, born of the ocean of milk, and who rests as the ornament on Śiva's crown — ruler of the tides, the mind, and the waxing-waning rhythm of every month (tithi).
Born from the womb of the Earth, radiant as lightning, ever-youthful and holding the spear of Śakti — graha of courage, discipline and righteous energy.
Dark as the priyaṅgu blossom, of matchless form, gentle and endowed with gentle qualities — son of Chandra, graha of learning, commerce and articulate speech.
Teacher of the gods and the sages, golden in hue, the very embodiment of wisdom and lord of the three worlds — graha of dharma, knowledge and grace.
Fair as snow, jasmine and the lotus stalk, supreme teacher of the Daityas, expounder of every śāstra — graha of beauty, love, art and material grace.
Dark as collyrium, son of Sūrya, elder brother of Yama, born of Chāyā — the slow-moving, impartial judge who grants every soul the exact fruit of its own karma.
— The Shadow Nodes
Rāhu and Ketu have no physical body in the sky — in Vedic astronomy they are the ascending and descending lunar nodes, the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's, and it is precisely there that eclipses occur.
The half-bodied one of immense power, who "swallows" the Sun and Moon during eclipses, born from the womb of Siṃhikā — graha of illusion (māyā), obsession, and sudden upheaval, yet also of daring ambition when rightly channelled.
Radiant as the palāśa flower, crowned by the stars, of fierce and formidable nature — graha of detachment, moksha and the dissolving of ego, the counterpart that keeps Rāhu in balance.
— Universal Mantras of Peace
We meditate upon the glorious light of the Divine Savitṛ; may that light illumine our intellect — recited at every sandhyā, at sunrise, noon and sunset.
We worship the three-eyed one, fragrant and nourishing all beings; as the ripe cucumber is freed from the vine, may we be freed from death, not from immortality.
That is whole, this is whole; from wholeness, wholeness emerges. Taking wholeness from wholeness, what remains is wholeness alone — a reminder that the sun, moon, every graha and this small prayer are all expressions of the one, undivided Reality.
May all be happy, may all be free from illness, may all see auspiciousness, may none suffer.
